Abstract

The concepts of the present invention leading to the new function will help the user to use the default programmed playlist with just one press of a specified (for instance: PROGRAM) key. Default Program List Key Function The program list can be created very easily if the user just wants an alternative way to listen to the same disc(s) or memory using the player. The alternative way can include: · Play the disc etc reversely, from the last track to the first track · Play only the odd tracks · Play only the even tracks There are two methods to implement the above function for a CD/MP3/DVD player without adding any new hardware key and without more than two key presses. This can be done by just adding a few lines of code to the application software. Method 1: when there is no program list available, first press PROGRAM key, then press PLAY key, the player will play the disc(s) in the alternative way. No program list will be saved, and the user still can use the PROGRAM key during the playing of the disc(s) to edit program list. Method 2: when there is no program list available, a long press of the PROGRAM key will create a full list in the alternative way and the PROGRAM icon will be lit indicating that there is a program list available now. The other functions of PROGRAM key as well as all other keys will not be affected any more by these methods. Advantages This key function enables the user to easily have a default playlist as an alternate way to enjoy music/film, and save the user a lot of key presses to edit the playlist.

DEFAULT PROGRAM LIST KEY FUNCTION FOR CD/MP3/DVD PLAYERS

Background

In the prior arts:

On a CD/MP3/DVD player there is usually a key named PROGRAM key, which sometimes is printed as PROG, PROG/SET or PROG/SET/CLEAR on the keypad or on the remote control of the player. When the player is in CD/MP3/DVD mode, the function of this key is to edit the user defined play list, which is called program play list or program list. The program list is an order of music/songs/pictures/films in the available disc(s) or memory of the player. When in program play mode, the player will play the music/songs/pictures/films in that order instead of the normal order – from the first track to the last track. In short, the program list is like a new disc or memory to play, and the user can edit this disc or memory.

On a conventional CD/MP3/DVD player there will be no program list unless the user creates one using the PROGRAM key.

Shortcoming of the conventional PROGRAM Key Function

It is clear that the editing of a program list may require a lot of different key presses and will take quite a while to finish a, for example 32-position, program list.
