Switch Module with Integrated Strain Relief

The new module form factor introduced in this invention provides two features critical to the mechanical function of the module. First, a method of providing mechanical advantage is needed to install and remove the module; and second, a form of strain relief is needed on the cables connecting to the module. The new form factor provides a surface by which both of these objectives can be served simultaneously. Typically, the I/O face of the module is at the end of the module. By recessing this face into the module and forming a shelf in front of it, a method of providing mechanical advantage can be attached, and cable connectors can be supported.
