Automatic product or technology roadmap generation and tracking

Products roadmaps are developed and modified continuously by product teams. Also, suppliers share a great amount of their roadmaps with customers. Normally, these roadmaps are shared in the form presentations or a spreadsheets which requires continuos updates to these documents. People within the same company, customers, and suppliers may not have the most updated roadmap information which can lead to out of date planning and wrong assumptions.

This invention describes a method where the product roadmaps are stored in a database and can be viewed on demand by any party that has a need to know. The recommended method is not to store the roadmap in a form of a presentation, but the roadmaps are stored in the form of database data elements. A user with proper access can retrieve any product roadmap from the database as needed. Roadmaps from selected products groups can be graphed or plotted on the same chart which shows the interaction between products and help in product launch and resource planning. When product roadmap changes, the owner updates the database. Interested parties can get a notification on roadmap updates and can retrieve an updated copy. Also, Roadmaps from suppliers or customers can be entered into this database in a similar manner. Data from all the roadmaps sources can be merged, analyzed and compared.
