Abstract

Disclosed is a joint or connecting mechanism with having an improved and desirable connecting force between two articles. At least one recess having a plurality of ribs therein is provided on the surface of one article for contacting with a rubber foot on the opposing surface of the other article, when the two articles are connected by a latch structure. A docking/connecting force given at the contact can be set as an optimal value by selecting the number of ribs and/or by adjusting/changing the width of respective ribs according to this invention, with or without adjusting/changing the hardness of the rubber as in the conventional way.

A mechanism for detachably connecting two articles such as covers A and B by using a conventional latch structure is shown in Fig.1.

The latch structure itself is conventional, and is comprised of two pairs of connecting members . Each pair is comprised of a hook-shaped latch and a corresponding connecting hole, one on the surface of the cover A and the other on the surface of the cover B. The latch has a head portion having a cam surface for slippery engaging with the edge portion of the hole when the cover B is vertically moved towards the cover
A. The stem portion of the latch is horizontally moved by a cam force at the vertical movement, under the bias force of a spring which is connected between a stationary protrusion of the cover A and the stem portion of the latch. When the vertical movement is over, the cam head portion and the corresponding hole latch two covers A and B, with the rubber feet of the cover B being in contact with the opposing surface of the cover A, as is conventional.

Conventionally, the connecting force between the covers A and B is provided by the hardness or the elasticity of the rubber feet. But it was difficult to provide a desirable or optimal docking/connecting force between two articles/covers, only by the selection of the hardness or the elasticity of the rubber feet .
