Abstract

Artificial muscles could be used as a positive locking mechanism to hold electronic chassis or sensor packages inside the pressure housings of downhole logging tools. By applying current to the muscle the sensors and electronics would disengage from the housing for removal. This would greatly provide much better support of the contents of the housing than the current wheel design.
