Described is an e-business on demand solution that can be implemented to dramatically transform the supply chain execution process to support the following specific business objectives: 1. Transform fixed costs into variable costs to improve the operational efficiency of the shipment and receiving business process 2. Significantly improve the accuracy of the shipments from the suppliers to reduce disruptions in the supply chain 3. Publish shipment related documents on demand to the suppliers and logistics partners using a fast and cost effective vehicle 4. Help track the suppliers’ and logistics partners’ activities related to shipments on a real-time basis Disclosed is a method to deliver labels and other supply chain control document directly from the manufacturer to the suppliers and logistics partners using internet technology and the ability to print such high volume high accuracy documents with extremely high reliability at low cost.

Disclosed is a unique high volume and secure web based solution that integrates the legacy order management systems at the manufacturer with its suppliers' and logistics partners' business processes by using the following technologies:
1. PDF 417 2D Barcode technology for creating highly accurate, resilient barcodes for the various control documents and labels used to manage the shipments;
2. A unique distributed Internet based high volume printing technique using applet technology that utilized the Java* Printing Services (JPS) to deliver the control documents and labels to a variety of thermal transfer printers attached to the suppliers' and logistics partners' workstations;
3. A J2EE** based highly available, scalable web application based on Websphere*** Application server that provides the ability for users to access the system and its functions from a browser and to execute functions such as Kanban label and report viewing and printing; Adobe Output Designer and Present Central Pro to support various printer and report formats while bringing the creation and maintenance of the shipping documents under the control of the manufacturer.
