* Exchange Agreement with AMETEK, Inc.

An important agreement with AMETEK, Inc, a Fortune 500 Company involved in several other high-technology ventures, was concluded. On Dec. 20, 1985, CIT, JPL, and AMETEK agreed to transfer the MK III Hypercube computer technology to AMETEK, which will bring it to production and market a commercial version. The agreement was announced at a meeting at Caltech on January 10 and was celebrated with a reception follow-ing at the Athenaeum. AMETEK is funding the JPL engineering effort at the rate of $500,000 a year for three years and has sent several of its engineers to collaborate closely with JPL staff. The AMETEK cube stemming from this effort will be marketed as AMETEK Sys-tem 2X/n, its second-generation system. The strong interest in the new collaboration and the new machine was evidenced by the attendance of 100 pe...
