In today's business environment, employees working on the same project and customers of projects can be located all over the world. With this dispersal, getting everyone together is a difficult process. Many companies now us a combination of telephone calls, video conferencing, and screen sharing (net-meeting, e-meeting, etc.). As can happen with new technology, getting everyone to understand and use the technology can be a difficult process. Many web meetings now start with 5 minutes of getting people connected to the web conference, entering the correct user id, password, meeting id, etc. What is needed is an easier way for participants to get connected to meetings and allow meetings to begin on time with all of the necessary participants.

The invention allows for a web conference (or other similar type of session) to be started based on an entry in the meeting notification. The notification may be a calendar invite, an email, an IM message, etc. The notification would contain data (date, URL, application to launch) that would allow a process on the user's machine to connect to the conference correctly. At the time of the conference, or slightly before, the software would start itself and connect to the meeting. The window may or may not be visible on the user's terminal.
