In today's business environment, employees working on the same project and customers of projects can be located all over the world. With this dispersal, getting everyone together is a difficult process. Many companies now use a combination of telephone calls, video conferencing, and screen sharing (net-meeting, e-meeting, etc.). Some services, such as voice, are generally required for any meeting. Other services are normally optional and usually are added with a price premium. In many cases, it is necessary to select the required services before a meeting. If the services are not used, the cost is still incurred. What is needed is a system and method to start and/or add additional services, on demand.

This invention proposes a system and method to create a web conference from a voice conference. In this situation, it would be generally easier to implement when using a Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VoIP) telephony system, though the invention is not limited to that technology. During the course of a conference call, the meeting moderator may find it necessary to use a web conference. By using the voice menu (or via an operator or web menu) the moderator can start a network meeting and have all of the telephone participants attach to the meeting.

In the VoIP scenario, the conference calling center would know how to contact the user of the system. Software installed on the user system could be sent a message with a command to launch web conference software or connect to a web enabled conference.
