Disclosed is a system to allow for edge to enterprise provisioning of additional resources in order to handle anticipated increases in workload from requests funnelled through the edge network.

In Figure 1 the oval circle around the arrows near the enterprise shows where bottlenecking is occurring because the moving of the application out to the edge network has moved the bottleneck out. The bottleneck is now either the network bandwidth available to the enterprise and/or the hardware/network resources in the enterprise.

A new protocol is established by which the edge network, after detecting a peak volume that is overwhelming the enterprise environment, can communicate with the enterprise in order to demand additional provisioning of network bandwidth and hardware resources. The enterprise then has processes that are initiated to:
1. Contact third party data providers for additional network bandwidth.
2. Reallocate hardware resources in the enterprise to start taking on the additional workload coming from the edge network applications.
3. Optionally compresses the responses generated from the enterprise applications and schedule time to deliver the compressed responses via minimal network bandwidth.
