Abstract

A display of a list of files on a device with a small screen cannot show much information without the user’s scrolling horizontally. In this invention, the most important information is bolded, while less important information is not emphasized or is drawn with muted colors. This way, other information can be in the same column. The file name is displayed in bold and spans 2 columns, while the date (deemed less important) is muted as is the file size; date and size are displayed under the name. The thumbnail takes one column and both rows. This idea can be extended so that by changing the sort order, the field would be emphasized in a manner distinct from the filename. For example, if the user choses to sort by date, then the date background could be colored light-blue. One implementation would have 2 lines of text per entry. It would be possible to have more. Other useful information could be the type or attributes (writable, executable, system), play time, version, or any other file meta data.

This text was extracted from a Microsoft Word document.
At least one non-text object (such as an image or picture) has been suppressed.
This is the abbreviated version, containing approximately 100% of the total text.
