Provide the capability to improve the ability of a frame side rail to absorb crash energy (applicable to front or rear portions of an automotive frame). Specific energy absorption is higher with 6xxx alloys than for steel. A1 with Rp0.2 150-200 MPa can compete against steel of 400-1000 MPa.
