In medical and food-related businesses, a layering of pliable, thin films can be used to cover a keyboard, where the 'dirty' outermost layer and can easily be removed and disposed of, exposing the next 'clean' layer, in order to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria from one person to another.

Layered Film Covering for Keyboards

Keyboards used in medical and food related establishments can be a harbor for bacteria and germs, especially when shared among many individuals. Keyboard contamination can allow germs to be transferred from one individual to another, or from a 'dirty' hand to a 'clean' hand, which can compromise an otherwise clean environment, leading to the spread of germs and disease. In restaurants, this condition is usually ignored or handled by suggesting that employees wash their hands frequently - which in practice is usually only done infrequently due to the time required and the inconvenience of having to leave the keyboard area to go to a washing area. In medical environments this is often handled by covering the keyboard with a specially made transparent keyboard cover that can be cleaned regularly - which is time consuming and requires special cleaners.

A better solution to this contamination problem is to create a layering of pliable, thin films can be used to cover a keyboard, where the 'dirty' outermost layer can easily be removed and disposed of, exposing the next 'clean' layer. This eliminates the need for special cleaners, and can be done much faster and more conveniently than either having to clean the existing keyboard cover or continually washing ones hands.
