Abstract

Often, whenever an email is sent to an outside company, the sender is supposed to CC the account manager to make sure they are kept in the loop. This is very easy to forget to do. It would be nice if there was an automated way to handle this. In this invention, the user and/or the IT Admin can set up a series of mappings on the device. Whenever the email app is going to send email to either (1) a specific email address or (2) an address of the form @domain.com, then the email application will automatically CC or BCC a specified recipient. For example, whenever an email is sent to Company ABC, the sender is supposed to CC Bob@abc.com. So if an email is sent to George at ABC, but not to Bob, then the email application will see the To: field includes an address of the form @abc.com but doesn't include bob@abc.com. So it will add Bob to the recipient list. As a further refinement this automatic checking could be made as a negative check. The IT Admin could set things up so that if an email was NOT sent to an internal address, then it would automatically be BCC'ed to an email address like AuditRecord@company.com. This feature could be set by the user in an Options item or through the Options menu item in the Email app. Alternatively this could be something that the IT Admin could set on their behalf.
