Abstract

Often when travelling, for work, once I get off the plane, I send an email to my wife or someone from work to tell them that I'd arrived at my location OK. It would be nice to have an automated method to do this.

Often when travelling, for work, once I get off the plane, I send an email to my wife or someone from work to tell them that I'd arrived at my location OK.  It would be nice to have an automated method to do this.

When you're on a plane, you have to shut off your radio.  Then, when you land and turn the radio back on, you roam onto a network diiferent than you were on before. (A user can see this because they get a "Welcome to the network" message from the network.)

So the user can setup a message that will be auto-sent when this situation occurs, e.g., "I made it."  When the device notices the radio is turned back on and the device is on a new network, it can send out the email.

As a further enhancement, the device can look at the user's calendar.  If there is an appointment with a location different then the user's home location, and this radio on/off with network change occurs, then the device can send the auto-message.  This could give the device finer control over when to send the message.
