A hardware- and software-based solution that offers email redirection for companies who currently do not fit into the “enterprise” (GroupWise, Domino, Exchange) category. This system will allow for redirection of email that resides on RFC-compliant POP3 or IMAP servers.

The system will consist of a “black box” hardware/appliance product, which is installed on the remote corporate network. The machine houses various pieces of software, which assist in the message retrieval and message push to the mobile device infrastructure. Outgoing e-mail is redirected through the current SMTP that corporation X currently has in place.

The benefit of using RFC/Internet standards means no OS limitation. The Internet Service Provider Mobile Device Server maintains the ability to retrieve and send email from any operating system where an RFC-compliant POP3/IMAP/SMTP server exists.
