Abstract

It may be difficult to track the large number of test handhelds currently being used by the large number of testers. Some of the problems that the test team faces include: 1. Testers waste time looking through the inventory for devices that they need for testing, often finding out that the device is not available 2. Testers do not know who has the handheld(s) that they need for their testing. 3. Managers do not know which handhelds are being used most frequently and cannot accurately determine if any more handhelds need to be ordered. 4. Handhelds/devices may be lost or stolen for months before anyone notices, and there's no way to accurately check which tester had it last. The handheld database inventory management system provides a searchable database of handhelds available for testing that is accessible via the web. Administrators have the following features available to them: 1. Create/edit/remove testers 2. Create/edit/remove handhelds 3. Create/edit/remove handheld types 4. Sign out a handheld to a specific tester 5. Sign in a handheld, making it available 6. Transfer a handheld from one tester to another. 7. View statistics for each handheld 8. View statistics for each tester. 9. Search the database of handhelds by type, ID, status, tester. Users of the system have the following features available to them: 1. Search the database of handhelds by type, ID, status, tester. 2. View statistics for each handheld 3. View available handhelds for testing 4. View which tester has the desired handhelds, and contact them via email This statistics allow the admin to determine if any more inventory needs to be ordered.
