A method is described for combining processes and tools used to gather data and deliver hardware as part of an IT migration project. The method utilizes decision-tree or "smart" information gathering to dynamically adjust the paths to be followed through a process flow. A system was implemented that provided one integrated tool that has appropriate questions to cause it to modify the remainder of the process and questions according to the selections made.
Method and System for On -Demand Decision-Tree Based Information Gathering
In a large scale IT migration involving hardware changes, there were several processes for gathering data and delivering the hardware. Normally a separate tool would be developed for each of the processes.
This invention combines the multiple tools into one integrated tool that has appropriate questions to cause it to modify the remainder of the process and questions according to the selections made.
Below is a diagram showing the various dialogs that are in the tool followed by tables that describe what dialog is displayed when Next is pressed on each dialog.
