Universal system for obtaining and paying for wireless access across multiple access points

As more and more business is transacted wirelessly, the need for a simple and ubiquitous method of obtaining internet connectivity grows. It can be cumbersome to locate and pay for connectivity when travelling - with different payment methods needed to connect at the coffee shop, airport or customer office site. A centralized system will not only make it easier for the consumer, but provide businesses with a new method for generating revenue by selling wireless access to customers with pre-approved and pre-configured payment methods identified.

End User - Establishing an Account with a Centralized Payment System

The end user would establish an account within a centralized system where a payment type would be specified (bank account, credit card, etc). End users could choose to maintain a particular balance or be charged on a per-use basis.

End User - Client Side Configuration

Once an account has been established, the end user would receive information on how to configure a connection, or have the connection automatically configured via software from the account provider. This connection information would identify the connecting device as having established an account with the centralized payment system.
