Abstract

Currently, there have been 7 holes drilled in the auger of the dual action agitator. This allows water to pass through the auger as it rotates. Thus decreasing the paddle affect that is created during the rotation of the auger. Intentions are to make a few samples with different hole sizes and number of holes.

Title of Invention:

Modified Dual action Agitator

Invention Abstract
Currently, there have been 7 holes drilled in the auger of the dual action agitator. This allows water to pass through the auger as it rotates. Thus decreasing the paddle affect that is created during the rotation of the auger. Intentions are to make a few samples with different hole sizes and number of holes.

Problem or requirement addressed by the invention
The failure to pass a 16 pound turnover test with wash cloths

How the invention works
It was observed that during the 16-pound turnover test, the top 3 colored cloths will disappear. After all the items are wet, the circular motion of the clothes pattern during agitation ceases. This is thought to be due to the compacting in the bottom of the basket. It was noticed that there is also a "pumping" action with the auger that looked as if it were pushing the clothes out instead of down as it should. The holes in the auger allow water to pass through the auger while still pushing the clothes down.

Important features of the invention and how it solves the problem above:
The holes in the auger allow water to pass through the auger while still pushing the clothes down. These holes are drilled in a way such that they are under water on the highest water level setting.
