What issues/problems does your invention try to address?

It tries to help end users have a convenient means to communicate with people in remote locations using their TVs and remote controls.

How did others try to address these issues/problems?

IP Telephony has only been available by using a normal PC/laptop with a handset device compatible with IP telephony (for example a USB handset with a numerical pad). To date I have not seen this application in a TV remote control.

Explain your invention and specifically identify the new and novel features.

A user is watching TV and decides to buy a product that appears with a phone number. Instead of scrambling looking for a telephone the user can take the remote control and switch it to IP telephony mode and make the call. The novelty is having an added convenience feature in your remote control.
