Abstract

It is difficult to identify whether the system memory is optimally configured for bandwidth and speed. For example, in computer systems that can operate using single-channel or dual-channel memory configurations, it is often difficult to figure out how to optimally configure memory. Existing solutions require an advanced knowledge of memory speeds and sizes and their physical installation in the computer mainboard as well as their physical location.

System Memory Optimizer

The proposed solution is a applet/application that queries the memory bus to identify size, speed rating, and bandwidth in order to make a recommendation on how the memory could best be configured to optimize bandwidth. The recommendations could advise the user to move memory to different banks, replace, or purchase additional memory and inform how best to install it. This can be tied directly to an electronic ordering system for ease of purchase.
