Abstract

In this application the typical eTablet of Kent Displays Inc. is used to assist a person learning to write (or relearning to write such as a stroke victim). Typically the writing tablet is a pressure sensitive pad that the user writes with a stylus, a fingernail, pen-cap or other pointed object. The pressure exerted changes the phase of the liquid crystal material and contrasts with a dark coated background. In this use, instead of having a dark coated background as an integral part of the display unit we can insert into the back of the unit preprinted sheets that include numbers, letters or other figures that a user can trace, copy or otherwise practice handwriting skills.

Writing Tablet Application

An additional writing tablet application is for use as a notepad built into the case of a phone.  The notepad could be used to jot down a phone number or a message instead of of turning the phone on, going into a contacts file and editing or adding records.
