Abstract

This disclosure designs a kind of battery that composed by two or more internal sub-batteries. We named this kind of battery as ‘multiple level battery group’. When we use the battery group, the first level battery will be used first. Subsequent level batteries are only used when the previous levels are exhausted. With the multiple levels battery group in this invention, almost only the first level would be used for those small discharges mentioned above. And other level(s) which have larger volume would be used for large discharges (like long duration usage). We can imagine that the first level would be used more frequently than others. When the first level battery is in low performance, we can replace the first level only. Since only part of the batteries will be replaced, the cost would be reduced.

In many kinds of portable devices (like notebook PC), the chargeable batteries are used broadly. Generally, the lifespan of a chargeable battery depends on the recharge cycle count. So to reduce the unnecessary recharge cycle count can expand the lifespan.

When we use laptop computers with battery, there are many situations that we only cost a small amount of volume before we get power adapter ready again. For example, we move the laptop from seat to a meeting room, or suspend the computer during night and so on. However, we have to recharge the battery for these small discharges which consume the limited recharge cycles .

One known solution is to setup the threshold for starting recharge. For example, the recharging will only start when the volume is less than 50%. However, it can't ensure enough energy volume at the moment we need it.

   This disclosure provides a better way to reduce the recycle count to increase the chargeable battery lifespan and decrease the cost to replace the old battery.
