Abstract

The article provides a mechanism for filtering user cared people list from a large number of recipients of a mail or calendar entry. The system is composed by three parts. l )Attention group management system. The system provides a management feature to manage the people-list that user cared. There are two kinds of people-list a. People list - defined as Group on the directory Public Group: Public group can be a group in a Public Directory such as public notes address book and LDAP directory. Private Group: User can define a private group which contains the users’ mail address in his address book. Such as user can create a group named my-classmates that contains all members of classmates. b.People list - generate by Social Network software Communities : The people list of a Community. The user list can be gotten real-time Profiles : The people list of reporting structure. The user list can be gotten real-time. 2)Filtering adapter Filtering adapter is designed to eliminate the difference among different kinds of people-list source, providing an uniform interface for filtering client 3) Filtering client Filtering client is the UI that end-users operate to do the filtering. Advantages: We can benefit a lot from this: a. Cared people can be easily filtered out from a large number of recipients b. Cared people can be aware in time from a large number of recipients

1.1 Field of the Invention

This invention relates to a new method and system to filter people list which can be a calendar entry invitees list or a recipients list of a mail. The filtering can be based on groups or social network.

Groups: Leverage existing private group and public group on a public directory or local address book.

Social network : Leverage member list from other system such as communities, activities and other social network systemand so on.

1.2 What is the problem?

Here list some user cases that always happen in ourdaily work.

User Case 1:

John received an invitation about attending a meeting about SOA training at another site. He wanted toknow if there are others under the same manager with him and if there are some classmates in his private mail group will go together with him.But he found there are more than two hundreds invitees in this calendar entry. How can he do?

User Case 2:

Mike received a mail about SOA knowledge. He wantedto check if other members in his SOA community arealso in the receivers list. But he also found there are more than two hundreds people in the list. How can he do?

User Case 3:

Jeff received an invitation about attending a meeting about SOA training. He ran into his middle-school classmate in the training, but he never notice it before the training , because there are more than two hundreds invitees in this calendar entry. How can he notice it once he get the invitation?
