Re-direction of read requests between different container types

Currently, requests may be re-directed to a secondary device only if the primary device is marked as disabled. This process is slow and requires multiple retries by the client program and in many instances re-direction may never occur since the disabling of a storage device is only done for critical errors such as device connectivity issues. The new re-direction of individual request will be transparent to client retrieval programs, will be done on an individual read request basis and does not depend on the disabling of the storage device. Furthermore, prior to this change when a storage device is disabled all outstanding requests are not re-directed. With this enhancement outstanding requests are re-directed between single document containerized devices and aggregate containerized devices and vice versa.

When documents are requested and dispatched to a single document storage container and an error condition is encountered, the request will be re-directed to an aggregate container type. This is done for individual documents and is transparent to the client applications.
