Abstract

In this invention, to solve the problem described above, we generate a description profile while achieving the image file, which records the estimated transferring progress of each block. When transferring the image, transfer the profile beforehand, so the progress presentation component in target server can read the profile and display acute progress of transferring.

According to our experience, the progress of deploying virtual image is not acute, it may use 90% time in 10% progress, and 10%

time in 90% progress, it brings bad user experienceto users, and makes confusion to management systems.

As the figure shows below, in a virtual image, there are spaces that store nothing, that will be used as the free disk for the

                                                                             running virtual machine. However from the outside perspective, the blank parts of the image file still occupy file space. In most of deployment scenario, the file transfer application can achieve the file to be transferred, and send itacross the network, then extract the file in the target end. In that case, the progress may displayed as we mentioned in the above paragraph.
