Abstract

Disclosed is a solution to provide a dashboard interface to managers for a dynamic view of their team workload distribution, break activity, work completion status. The solution proposed can be integrated with any break software the company wants to use. It would calculate breaks taken and these could be configured by the organization or the specific business or even the individual. It would then provide managers with details on the team, which could help them make well informed decisions on employee workload, when time in lieu is required or even when employees need mentoring or help on some specific work.

Managers can use this tool to monitor workers on their workstations and ensure long term absence because of computer overuse related illness is avoided. Some of the common scenarios where this tool can be used are outlined below:

If workers are doing a lot of overtime due to project deadlines then a manager can track this and ensure they get a break at the end of a project .

If workers are spending a lot of time away from their workstation this can be looked at maybe they are in the lab or are out on a in-house day course or working with other colleagues or maybe they aren 't working as they should.

This tool would give data to managers to keep track of employee activities and get better picture of how employees structure their day. It can provide information on what needs to be focused ( as an example training-if there is too much time spent with insufficient output). How to measure employees' performance is measured in many ways but this tool could help an employee who is an excellent team member who spends a lot of their time mentoring other individuals and this work goes unnoticed .

It's a tool that can help the manager see which employee in the team is spending the maximum amount of time on the PC(based on that workload can be divided fairly, if only certain members are working more than others)

If the employee is spending too much time and is not getting work done , it could be because they require help which they haven't asked their manager for, here again this tool will indicate to the manager to find out...
