Abstract

When a software application has a problem, it normally displays an error message or warning. This concept automatically uses the keywords in the error messages to do a web search to return dynamic and up-to-date results to help a user diagnose the problem encountered.

Disclosed is an idea to automatically use keywords in an error message to do a web search to return dynamic and up-to-date results to help diagnose errors. A typical embodiment would start off with an application that prints out an error displaying an error/warning code and/or error/warning messages. The application will trigger a search from one or more search engines and search sources with the keywords and error code in the error messages. The results of the search(s) are then displayed showing the error message along with the search results (see figure 1 below). The search engines can be set by the application as well as be configurable by the end users. The search agent mentioned can also organize the search results in an intuitive format (see figure 2 below).
