Abstract

Today there is no way to integrate vocal interactions between Gamers into video game play. Traditionally, video game play is manipulated by buttons and navigation sticks accessed via remote controllers. Using remote controllers does not account for gamer comments, which can have dramatic effect on gameplay. Our system will factor in gamer comments, and allow them to positively/negatively affect both the gamers team and opposing teams.

Method for implementing user's voice to influence video game play

Currently there is no way to integrate vocal interactions between Gamers into video game play. Traditionally, video game play is manipulated by buttons and navigation sticks accessed via remote controllers. Using remote controllers does not account for gamer comments, which can have dramatic effect on gameplay. This system will factor in gamer comments, and allow them to positively/negatively affect both the gamer's team and opposing teams.

Disclosed is a method that will add to the gaming experience by incorporating vocal influences within video games. Gamers will be able to speak to their team (as a coach or player from the game), whether it be to calm them down when the other team is gaining momentum, or increase team morale via a "pep" talk. Alternately, the Gamer will also be able to heckle the opposing team/players in order to lower their morale and cause them to lose focus thus diminishing their effectiveness in the game.

Some examples:

Know which Gamer stated a phrase (tone inflection, profanity, etc) and who the phrase was directed at.

    By doing this we can affect teams moral and attributes to influence the actual game play.

The crowd will echo jeers stated by the home team's user to create a life-like home field advantage.
