Abstract

Developer always need to do log comparison while code developing, testing, configurating etc. Let’s imagine a scenario as follows, developer writes down a new piece of code, then he run the code, from the output log, he finds a issue, so he makes a change in the code to fix the issue and run the code again, there will be some difference appear in the new log if the change make effect, so he wants examine the new log if it has any difference compared to the log yielded in last run. From this scenario we can find out developers always need to figure out the discrepancy between the new logs and the old logs, because from the discrepancy, developers can know if his code/configuration chages make effects. This disclosure presents a dynamic log discrepancy prompting method to help developers to find out the difference in the new logs.

Dynamic log discrepancy prompting

In this disclosure, we present a dynamic log discrepancy prompting method to help developers to findout the difference in the new logs . When developers wants to know if any difference would appear in the log in next running , he can marka start point in the exists log items in the log output window , and then re-run the code, all the new generated log items will be comparedwith the old log items begin with the start point one by one, if the new log item is difference with the old log item , the new log item will be highlighted , so the developers can find the difference quickly .Pls see the following figures .

1. Mark a start point in the log output window .

2. All the new generated log items will be compared with the old items begin with the start point , and the difference in the new log items will be highlighted.
