Abstract

The present patent relates to system and method for analyzing the activity of stakeholders in projects using information from electronic calendar system and conference calling system. The main characteristics are: (1)Correlate meetings scheduled in electronic calendar system with corresponding projects using user defined criteria. (2)Correlate meetings scheduled in electronic calendar system with calls held in conferences calling system. (3)Query stakeholder call-in information from conference calling system. (4)Associate call-in information with meeting entries in calendar system. (5)Merge information extracted from electronic calendar system and conference calling system into project-oriented stakeholder activity information. The advantages of the present method are: (1)Provides quantified assessment of stakeholder activity in projects. (2)Leverage information hosted in electronic calendar system and conference calling system to assist project management.

Background

"Stakeholders are committed" is one of the most important aspects for project management. Lots of projects are failed because of their stakeholders are not active or lost their interest.Project Managers are required to be aware of whether their key stakeholders are committed, whether they are entering important meetings, whether they are keeping interested in the project, etc.

In contemporary practice, electronic calendar system and conference calling system are widely used to schedule meetings, appointments and conference calls that involve project stakeholders from different parties.

Electronic calendar systems contain a wealth of information about their owner. Many inventions have been disclosed on how to exploit the information contained in calendar system. Patent US07035865 describes a method for providing calendar-enhanced awareness information for instant messaging system and electronic status boards. Patent US06457132 describes a calendar-based power management method. Patent US07099656 describes a method to operate on calendar system from telephone system.

Summary

The present patent relates to system and method foranalyzing the activity of stakeholders in projectsusing information from electronic calendar system and conference calling system. The main characteristics are:

Correlate meetings scheduled in electronic calendarsystem with corresponding projects using user defined criteria. Correlate meetings scheduled in electronic calendarsystem with calls held in conferences calling system.

Query stakeholder call-in information from conference calling system.

Associate call-in information with meeting entries in calendar system.
