Abstract

The “Non Damaging Removable Tapped Hole Plug” is designed to block usage of tapped holes in dies where a temporary lug would/could be used. This device does not damage the tapped hole thereby rendering it still viable if ever needed in the future. This is accomplished by using a plastic/nylon material that does not damage the threads in the tapped hole.

Description of Invention

The “Non Damaging Removable Tapped Hole Plug” is designed to block usage of tapped holes in dies where a temporary lug would/could be used.  This device does not damage the tapped hole thereby rendering it still viable if ever needed in the future.  This is accomplished by using a plastic/nylon material that does not damage the threads in the tapped hole.

Unique Features

·        A plastic M36-4 set screw that has the minor diameter of the last two (2) threads on the drive end* approximately .3 m/m larger in diameter.

·        The diameter of the last two (2) minor diameters of threads at the drive end of the “set screw” which are the locking portion of the device.

·        These last two threads being larger will lock the set screw into place without bottoming the device in the tapped hole.

·        It can also be removed using standard socket Allen drive wrenches.

*end that receives the Allen drive wrench.
