Abstract

Conjoining 2 polymer lumens together using a diode laser with a shaped beam (1.2 mm x 6 mm) that is essentially a "line". One lumen must have a colorant while the other one may remain transparent. By having a shaped beam the moving of the parts to create a known bond length is not necessary. In addition, when compared to the CO2 laser welding process, no heat shrink material is required during the diode laser welding process.
