*IBM *Lotus instant messaging has technology able to automatically detect the location from which the user is connected. This information is shared within the instant messaging community as an addition to the user 's on-line status. When working in different locations (i.e. home office, satellite office, main office, other remote locations) it isn't enough to provide this information only to the instant m essaging community, often limited to people within the same company , as this information needs to be externalized or transferred to other systems. Traditionally people would have to log on to various systems to update their current work location (i.e. voice mail to change their message of the day to say where they can be found - often repeating this several times a day ), or simply aren't authorized to perform such changes (i.e. corporate directory or persona web page).

By extending the location awareness in IBM Lotus *Sametime 7.5 it would be possible to automatically capture the current location and perform automatic and secure actions on a variety of systems....
