Users are typically comfortable with their tools. However, forces come along which require them to change tools (consolidation of tools, the old tool goes out of support, the company is taken over and the standards change, etc.). People may try the new tool but if the functions do not easily translate back to what they are used to with the old system then they are resistant to this change and tend to regress back to what they know.

This system involves the following steps:
1. Individually it assess the way a user uses the old system by monitoring the user interface

2. Collectively it documents each individuals' user style and patterns and then it gathers this data into profiles

3. It also assesses the functionality of the new system:
· Initially with the experts who understand it to get the full breadth of the product

· But also by continually monitoring the way generally people use it.
4. The system then builds a custom map for each user
5. This map provides guidance as documentation and/or graphical assistance about how to implement a function from the old system using the methods and tools of the new system

As an example, to describe this disclosure consider the case of a user of a word processing system. Specifically the approach includes:

Step 1: Individually it assesses the way a user uses the old system by monitoring the user interface. This is dependent on:
· Another submitted disclosure "A method for knowledge extraction by documenting a process, and then analyzing, and finally expressing the patterns that are discovered" or similar.

· Full description of this disclosure:
1. Extracting patterns and/or problem analysis approaches by observing behaviour of the user

2. Then the system applies methods to determine or "reverse engineer" the intelligent patterns that the human applies. The system does this by applying symbolic logic techniques to analyze the methods the operator users

3. The system can determine the outcome statistics of the techniques used
4. It can also assess the context in which the operator tries different techniques, which should also provide information on the relationship between the techniques' outcome and its context.

5. The system then documents these approaches as standard templates / diagrams / designs that less experienced system/tool user can study in order to shorten their learning process or broaden their palette of techniqu...
