At a high level the invention provides an automated program that monitors and tracks the distribution entity through out the mfg process. It tells mfg when / if there is a problem and will give recommendations about what to do about the problem. There are 3 core functions of this process:

Variable Distribution Scheduling Advisor for Complex Configured Entities

The first step in the program is to determine when a distribution entity will be ready to ship. The program / process will pick a distribution entity for a given ship date and analyze each unit of work 1 by 1 to determine how long it will take for each unit of work to complete the manufacturing process.

The process determines when all units of work will be complete by using elements of Self Learning Mfg Work Load Planning tool to obtain an average cycle time

for a given unit of work an project that forward in time and uses Predictive Time to Completion to determine how long a given order has left in systems test. Based on analyzing data from these 2 tools it can determine when all units of work can be completed.

   Entity Characteristics

The next step is to determine the entity status. This summarizes and stores the current status of the entity as will as gives a read out to manufacturing and distribution personal as to where each order with in the entity is at in the mfg process. This can be done on a real time basis.

Also, this coupled with the previous step give manufacturing and distribution a very

good status of where each order with in the entity is at and when it will be completed.
