Abstract

The invention uses air and/or surface structure to stabilize an edge of a moving web near a cutting device, in particular, edge trimming devices. Enhancements to the design include stabilizers with: 1. Two or more substantially flat surfaces and a transition between them, including but not limited to square, concave or convex transitions 2. With concave surfaces (relative to the stabilizer) with transitions between said surfaces. The surfaces may or may not be parallel with the web direction. 3. Locations below the web with the web riding on the top surface 4. Locations above the web with the web riding on the bottom stabilizer surface
