Abstract

A Jumperless bidirectional SATA-PATA interposer card design is disclosed. In the disclosure, no Jumper is required to set the SATA to IDE or IDE to SATA mode. Without the use of jumper, BIOS set it automatically. Because of standard PCI full height/ half length form factor, it can easily install into any system without any mechanical modification.

Background: Customer still need the IDE interface, but most of current systems are without the IDE because Intel south bridge doesn't provide the IDE interface. Example, in one case One team need IDE interface to support Compact flash drive.

They put their OS into the 512MB compact flash drive.

But Guandu system didn't support the IDE interface.

So we have to design a SATA to IDE interposer card .

Background: IDE optical drive is end of life, and need one more SATA port to support the SATA optical drive
Example, in another case, TaroKo is shipping with IDE optical drive today, but the IDE optical drive is going to be end of life. SATA optical drive replaced the PATA optical drive. So we are looking to have a IDE to SATA interposer card .
