BACKGROUND

The present invention relates generally to milling machines, and more particularly to a milling tool with a tangent plan on a rotational path.

A milling machine is a tool employed for shaping of metal and other hard materials. These milling machines exist in two basic forms: horizontal and vertical, which refers to the orientation of its cutting tool spindle. Generally, milling machines are used for varied mechanical operations. These operations range from simple ones to very complex ones, such as slot and keyway cutting, planing, drilling, diesinking, etc.

For operations like grinding and mixing, a commonly used milling machine is a Ball mill. A Ball mill is a cylindrical device used in grinding or mixing materials like ores, chemicals, ceramic raw materials and paints. Ball mills rotate around a horizontal axis, partially filled with the material to be grounded plus the grinding medium. However, the Ball mills show issues with forces and vibrations.

Another application of grinding is semi-finishing operations. Generally work-pieces present surfaces that are hard to work on due to hindrance issues owing to their geometry. Presently available milling tools are insufficient in managing geometrical issues and thereby do not make allowance material uniform.

It would be desirable to re-design a common mill such that it is not hindered by geometrical issues and makes uniform allowance material without having issues of vibrations and forces as those faced in Ball mills.
