     (R)-5-[2-(Phenylsulfonyl) ethyl]-3-[(1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinyl) methyl]-1H- indol(referred as "ELT") of the following structure;

is in intermediate in the preparation of (R)-5-[2-(Phenylsulfonyl) ethyl]-3-[(1-methyl- 2-pyrrolidinyl)methyl]-1H-indol hydrobromide(referred as "ELT-HBr).

A crystalline form of ELT was found and it is described herein below.

The crystalline form of ELT is characterized by data selected from the group consisting of: a powder XRD pattern with peaks at about 11.1, 15.4, 16.2, 16.8and
17.8 ± 0.2 degrees 2-theta; a powder XRD pattern as depicted in figure 1; and a combination thereof.

Samples after being powdered in a mortal and pestle are applied directly on silicon plate holder. The X-ray powder diffraction was measured with Philips X'Pert X-ray powder diffractometer, equipped with Cu irradiation source λ=1.5406Å, X'Celerator detector (2.022° 2θ), I=40mA, U=45 kV.
