Abstract

While travelling, passengers may need information about the details of their travel, for example: information about connection possibilities, load at the security gate, the location of airport facilities, baggage transfer status, etc. Furthermore, international passengers have to deal with entry regulations, for example to fill in the forms for immigration or custom clearance. At present, a widely-used way to inform passengers is to put the information at a public display system or to install help desks for assistance. Important information is also written in one or several languages or in form of symbols on the signs located in the building. However, it is not possible to get information about the transit status of the checked-in baggage or about the load at the security gate in advance. For filing up the immigration forms or similar, passengers have to go to the corresponding offices.

While travelling, passengers may need information about the details of their travel, for example:

information about connection possibilities, load at the security gate, the location of airport facilities,

For filing up the immigration forms or similar, passengers have to go to the corresponding offices.

In the following, a personalized travel information system is introduced which collects and organizes all

important travel information. For each travel, a workflow is created which account for different events

during the travel. To retrieve the information about the travel, a token is used which is assigned to the

workflow. An overview of the proposed solution is shown in Figure 1. In the following, essential

components and their function are described:
1) The User Interface is usually a graphic interface to view the information. This interface is also

used to configure the workflow. Thereby, user preferences, for example the choice of

language, can be set. An audio and speech interface can also be provided.
2) Workflow Engine is the process which is...
