A Programmatic Algorithm for Visual Design of Leaping Gauge Information

Disclosed is a technique to visually leap a graphic user interface gauge. The gauge is shown below and has a threshold marked by a red dot. The gauge is periodically updated and when the threshold is exceeded the visual metaphor will animate and leap out toward the user

by changing its size. The user can click on the gauge and the gauge will go back to its original size and reset the threshold marker (black needle) back to zero. The new leaping gauge provides functional aspects that the programmer can use such as a leap function that can be executed when the gauge has been leaped (primed). The user can click on the gauge to enable the user interface to provide more information as to why the gauge leaped.
