Disclosed is a method and system for issuing warnings and providing directions to a visually impaired user. Presence of a diseased person in the vicinity of the visually impaired user and directions for moving to a safe region is communicated to the visually impaired user.

The method and system disclosed herein provides a device to a visually impaired user which issues warnings and provides directions. In case of an epidemic outbreak, the device retrieves current alerts issued by organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO). Alternatively, such alerts may be retrieved from popular news feeds. Thereafter, the device dynamically detects the presence of a diseased person in the vicinity of the visually impaired user. The diseased person may be identified by the device by identifying gestures of the diseased person. For example, the device may identify the presence of a person who is coughing or sneezing and alert the visually impaired user of the presence of a diseased person in the vicinity. The visually impaired person can also manually enter such characteristic gestures for detecting the presence of a diseased person.
