Method and System for Assisting a User to Schedule a Meeting with Other Users Across Different Time Zones

Disclosed is a method and system for assisting a user to schedule a meeting with other users across different time zones.

While working with users across time zones, it is often the case that normal business hours for the users do not overlap. Due to this, there is a possibility that while scheduling a meeting, a meeting time may fall beyond normal business hours for one or more users. However, in such cases it is difficult to determine if a user is available during non-business hours. Further, current calendar applications keep track of a user's availability for the normal business hours as specified by the user as shown in fig.1. Therefore, there is no means to determine availability of users during non-business hours.

In accordance with the method and system disclosed herein, a user is provided with an option to specify a set of extended working hours beyond the normal business hours in a calendar application of the user. Further, the user is also provided with an option to identify a specific group of users who are allowed to see availability of the user during the set of extended working hours. For example, the specific group of users may include other users who work in a different time zone. This prevents users who are not part of the specific group of users to determine availability of the user beyond normal
