Abstract

Current software build systems produce an install image, and store it in a repository. Then build verification teams get the image, and perform the install and configuration in order to test. Other test teams such as Function test and System function teams will need to do also install and configure the build. This repetition delays the build-test cycle. It then becomes necessary to implement an image that already includes the installation and configuration in order to avoid repetitive tasks.

New Generation Build for VMWare (NGB4VMWare)

Current software build systems produce an install image, and store it in a repository. Then build verification teams get the image, and perform the install and configuration in order to test. Other test teams such as Function test and System function teams will need to do also install and configure the build. This repetition delays the build-test cycle. It then becomes necessary to implement an image that already includes the installation and configuration in order to avoid repetitive tasks.

New Generation Build for VMWare* (NGB4VMWare) can be used to build any software products. It has three major phases to generate the final image.

Phase 1 - Build:
It gathers the source code from a repository and generates install images.

Phase 2 - Install and configure BVT:

It uses test suites with test buckets to start install and config on a platform. It generates Build Verification result.

Phase 3 - Publish:

It uses the platform image to generate a VM Ware images so that these images can be deployed for more testing or for final products. It publishes the VM Ware
image to a repository for later use by other test teams or customers.
