Abstract

Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) are used for different applications such as machine tools. The standard HMI is mounted on the front side of the machine. To provide more flexibility for the user, portable handheld devices are used. These devices are connected via cable or wireless to the control system. It is disadvantageous that the user has to hold the devices and is therefore limited in his task scope. Besides the devices take space and are usually heavy.

The connection allows also voice transfer and a microphone is used to set up commands to the machine. The proposed solution improves the efficiency of the user.
