Abstract

The fluctuation of the air and fuel mixture equivalence ratio is one of the most eminent influences for gas turbine combustion dynamics. The traveling of acoustic waves from the combustion chamber in the upstream direction causes the equivalence ratio to fluctuate. As a consequence, the heat release rate pulses and the pressure oscillates. Hence, a feedback loop is formed. The fluctuation of equivalence ratio can be reduced significantly by modifying of the fuel injection position. If the fuel is injected into to combustion air in the very upstream location, as shown in Figure 1, the pressure oscillation has been suppressed compared to the traditional configuration.
