A method and system for automatically blocking a keyboard input of a mobile device of a driver of a vehicle is disclosed. The method determines travelling speed of the mobile device and consistency of key press during the keyboard input for blocking the keyboard.

A number of vehicle related accidents are reported from all over the world. Nowadays a majority of these vehicle related accidents occur when vehicle drivers' attention gets diverted due to the use of mobile devices while driving their vehicles. The drivers get distracted due typing a Short Message Service (SMS), performing a web search or playing games on the mobile devices while driving their vehicles.

Therefore, a method and system is disclosed for automatically blocking a keyboard input of a mobile device of a driver of a vehicle device.

The method and system disclosed herein determines a travelling speed of a mobile device using a Global positioning System (GPS) sensor embedded in the mobile device. The travelling speed associated with the mobile device provides a first indication that
the user of the mobile device is travelling in a vehicle. However, the user may be travelling in the vehicle as a passenger. Therefore, in order to verify if the user is driving the vehicle himself, the method determines if there is any consistency or intermittent delay involved in pressing keys of the keyboard while the user is using the mobile device. As a driver of a vehicle may need to pause frequently while pressing
the keys during text input, therefore, consistency or intermittent delay between two key presses may vary invariably during driving the vehicle. Accordingly...
