A method and system is disclosed for providing technical assistance to consumers free of charge. While offering technical assistance, relevant advertisements related to products and/or services of service providers are also rendered to the consumers. The system generates revenue through the service providers when the consumers avail products and/or services advertized to them.

Disclosed is a method and system for providing telephone and internet based technical assistance to consumers free of charge. While the consumer is waiting for technical assistance, relevant advertisements related to products and/or services are marketed. The system will generate revenue from direct marketing, advanced level support and onsite support.

While the consumer is waiting for technical assistance, the system will determine if this is the first time or a repeat visit for the consumer. If the consumer is accessing the system for the first time, the system will create a profile for the consumer. The profile may include consumer details such as name, address and information about the consumer's computer hardware/software configurations. The profile may also include information such as hobbies, interest and other details which may help the system target market to the consumer. General advertisements are rendered to the consumer if the customer does not wish to share the profile information.

Once the consumer is connected to the system, a technical expert is assigned to the consumer for resolving the technical problem associated with the computer software/hardware of the consumer free of charge. When a consumer is waiting for his/her turn, the system will render relevant advertisements of products/services of the service provider. The advertisements are selected based on the information included in the profile of the consumer. The system further provides the consumer with options to buy the products/services. In a scenario, when the consumer wishes to buy a product/service, a service agent responsible for the product/service may assist the consumer in carrying out the transaction. When such transactions are carried out, the system generates revenue through the service providers. The product/services can be for example, Antivirus protection, Data Backup, Online Photo Service, Computer Peripherals, and in home repair of computer equipment.
